Press Release – EF-1 Tornado

National Weather Service Officials have confirmed that an EF1 tornado struck Taylor County early Thursday morning, April 3, 2025. Taylor County Emergency Management Director and National Weather Service Officials have analyzed radar data, pictures, video, and drone footage which determined that an EF1 tornado touched down in the Lemons Bend area of Taylor County, moving NE to Joe Kerr Rd to Gilpin Rd. NWS determined that inflow from the tornado caused major damage to a garage on Milder Creek Rd. The tornado continued crossing Lyle Spur Rd to Strawberry Farm Rd where several trees were downed and some structures were damaged. The tornado crossed over to Lone Valley Rd downing several large trees and utility lines that blocked the road. The tornado continued causing damage to approximately fifteen campers located In an RV park behind Tucker’s Tiki Bar & Restaurant. Tucker’s Tiki Bar & Restaurant also received moderate damage.

The tornado proceeded through a wooded area along State Park Rd crossing Green River Lake and downing several trees on Goat Island.

The tornado continued across Green River Lake just north of Emerald Isle Marina to County Park Rd breaking off several tall trees. At that point, it appears the tornado lifted as it crossed Smith Ridge Rd behind Taylor County Campgrounds. Some minor tree damage was noted at the end of Stray Winds.

One minor injury was reported when a person sleeping in one of the campers flipped over. The person did not seek medical treatment.
